Problem:
Increase feed rate to machine from once every 5 seconds to once
every 2.5 seconds and do not miss a placement when changing pallets.
Solution: Provide a Fanuc 4-Axis articulating arm
robot with a rotating end effector, allowing us to pick & place at
the same time, cutting the cycle time in half with the use of only
one robot.
Provide two pallet pick positions (one place
position), always having a pallet in position for the next pick when
system is picking last part from the pallet. Simple vision system
looks for edges of tiles to signal system when last tile is being
picked, providing for pallet change-over within rate.
Problem:
Manual palletizing of textile spools could not keep up with
production and created numerous ergonomic problems.
Solution: Gantry pick and place automated palletizing
allows the operator to load textile spools to a puck conveyor with a
lift assist device three at a time eliminating ergonomic injuries.
The puck conveyor automatically feeds spools under the gantry
pick position where four spools at a time are picked in-line and
placed in a waiting dunnage to start a pallet by row. The
second z-axis gantry position handles the pallet dunnage.

Problem:
Manual measuring of glass thickness on a glass flow line was
inconsistant and inaccurate.
Solution: Designed and installed an automated gantry
high-speed system to control a laser sensor, which was programmed to
move back and forth across the width of the glass sheet as the sheet
moved under the gantry.
Result: Reduced glass scrap by 78% with accurate glass
thickness quality control.
